General Scope and Summary
Sage Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Director to develop and direct the overall strategic planning, budgeting, and execution of commercial launch meetings, plan of action meetings (POAs), and regional field events. The Director, Commercial Event Strategy & Planning will be responsible for driving the planning, budgeting, and coordination of large complex commercial meetings and events for the US Commercial team. This high visibility role will require significant collaboration, planning, and project management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in meeting planning and execution with a demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and innovation.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop strategies and objectives for the overall effectiveness and execution of commercial launch meetings and events.
Manage and execute projects, marketing plans, and events to maximize exposure.
Develop, negotiate, and manage relationships with key third party vendors.
Ensure field compliance with government regulations and company processes.
Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
Oversee logistics, presentation and materials support, and pre- and post-event evaluations.
Serve as Commercial business process owner (BPO) for the sponsorships/speaker program platform.
Plan and execute key field events (regional field meetings, trainings, etc.) in coordination with Commercial Learning & Development and Operations colleagues.
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
8+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years of experience in planning, budgeting, coordinating, and executing large meetings, events, or operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Up to 25% national travel required.
Master's/advanced degree in event management, marketing, operations, or hospitality a plus.
Experience in biotech/pharma/healthcare related field strongly preferred.
Prior experience managing complex operations projects in a face-paced, high-growth environment.
Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organization and project management skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to analyze complex issues to develop realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.
Ability to communicate issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues.
Ability to effectively communicate with external vendors, internal stakeholders, and colleagues of all levels.
Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
