Wages starting at $21.75, up to $30.00 within 18-24 months, through a progressive training program!

The Opportunity

Our team in Wichita, KS is hiring a Refinery Operator (Oil Recycling Operator) for the facility. As a Refinery Operator; known internally as an Operator Oil Recycling, you will be responsible for the tank re-refinery process operations, recording tank gauge readings and for completing tank transfers. You will also manage other associated process reading recordkeeping along with assisting other team members when required.

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Obtain routine process samples to verify product quality.
  • Assist with tank farm operations as necessary.
  • Loading and off-loading of semi-trailers and railcars.
  • Complete tank transfers to control inventory.
  • Sample process streams and assists with tank farm operations as necessary;
  • Gauge all process tanks every hour;
  • Switch and clean process filters as needed
  • Complete housekeeping tasks in refinery;
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision.

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen?

  • 1+ years of Production / Manufacturing experience, or industrial experience strongly preferred;
  • Vacuum distillation and hydro-treating process knowledge preferred;
  • Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude as well as knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance preferred;
  • Forklift experience preferred;
  • Willing to work weekends;
  • Ability and willingness to be clean shaven and wear a respirator required;
  • Ability to effectively communicate refinery changes;
  • First Aid and CPR knowledge preferred;
  • Previous experience working in a refinery is an asset.
