Summary of Job Scope and Expectations: 
The Director of Instructional Design is responsible for the design and execution of the company's learning and development strategies and programs in support of the business strategy and plan.  This position reports to the Chief People Officer (“CPO”).  The Director works with the CPO on the full range of learning and development matters, including Support Center and Decentralized Learning & Development.  This position leads all associates in L&D, coaching and developing the team.  The Director works with the CPO on the company's short-term and long-term planning as well as the annual budget related to learning and development opportunities for all associates.  
Essential Functions: 
This job's duties and responsibilities will go beyond the essential functions listed below based on the needs of the company.  Reliable and dependable onsite presence is required.
• Responsible for developing and implementing the company's learning and associate development strategies to achieve the company's 2020 vision of being a world leader in people development and being loved by our guests.   • Leads the Learning & Development function. Sources, develops, and implements all training programs and learning opportunities for SC and Operations associates.  Builds and sustains partnerships with critical stakeholders across the company. • Leads all L&D associates, coaching and developing the L&D team by setting the vision, strategy and execution of all learning and development initiatives for the company.  Develops the team to achieve collaboration and a cohesive strategy. • Responsible for establishing the department's policies and procedures and for reviewing and continuously improving processes.  Implements state-of-the-art systems in support of learning and development strategies. • Performs value-added analysis of associate learning and development that positively impacts the business.  Identifies improvement opportunities that can be implemented through strategic analysis. Creates a disciplined approach to evaluate key L&D decisions. • Works collaboratively with the CPO on leadership development and succession planning. Develops and enhances the company's global culture, including recommendations for improvements.   • In collaboration with the CPO, leads L&D's annual and long-term planning process as well as develops and manages the annual budget related to learning and development programs and opportunities. • Manages, communicates with, and evaluates all key external L&D partners, vendors, and technology. Approves all new external relationships related to L&D.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Computer Systems or related field and Master's degree in instructional design, education, or related field required • Minimum five years of executive experience in learning and development, preferably in a multi-state, multi-entity retail/hospitality environment  • Mastery of Learning Management System, preferably in Cornerstone • Comprehensive knowledge of learning and development, including L&D strategy, curriculum design, course content development and implementation into the company LMS in an organized manner. Expertise in assessments and incentives  • Successful completion of annual store training
