Pacific Life is looking to invest in bright, agile new talent to ensure we continue to innovate and strengthen relationships with our policyholders. It's in this spirit that we are currently looking to add a skilled Financial Analyst to our team in Newport Beach, CA. 
   
As Financial Analyst, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by managing within Retirement Solution Division's Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, providing reporting and analysis of GAAP and Statutory results by business lines. You'll also assist in development and execution of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and financial analytics (internal and external; actual and planned/projected), Strategic Plans and ad hoc projects.

What You'll Do

  • Provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting & analysis of results (GAAP and Statutory) by business lines on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

  • Lead the Strategic Plan process including collaboration with Risk Management and Valuation on result and consolidation, preparation, review of financial results and margin analysis by business line (GAAP & Statutory)

  • Effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities

  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analytics and reports as requested by Management

  • Leverage innovation and technology to enhance and drive efficiencies

  • Collaborate effectively with FP&A peers and other Finance, Risk Management, and Valuation partners to drive comprehensive deliverables

Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle products (EPM, Hyperion SmartView/Essbase)
  
Factors for Success

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting or equivalent

  • 5+ years of progressive relevant experience; Insurance industry a plus

  • Ability to innovate and leverage technology for efficiencies, enhanced analytics and complex financial models

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and Oracle products (i.e. EPM, Hyperion SmartView/Essbase, etc.) preferred

  • Ability to work independently on assignments of various levels of complexity

  • Demonstrated analytics skills with a keen attention to detail

  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to collaborate with others to effectively solve problems

  • Proactive in understanding drivers of business and results
