Description

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Problem Solving Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Security Clearance: Special Requirements: What are the top 3 items the Hiring Manager is looking for?: Why is this position open / needed?: The position will be for a senior software engineer assigned to multiple software test projects including MCMS and PPMC. The candidate will be expected to author complex test procedures and provide senior technical peer reviews for test procedures. The candidate should have a background in testing and test methodologies, shipboard components, and automation networks. Clearance Level: Confidential Will this position require travel?: No Yardwide Access: Yes Required PPE: Ear Muffs, Face mask, Hard Hat, Steel Toe Boots Is there an elevator in the main work site building?: Yes Remote work an option in lieu of being onsite: No Flexible Office Policy & Procedure: With the increased demand to work from home, the risk of potential unauthorized exposure has increased with leased labor that have Foreign Nationals in the household. NNS is requiring all management with leased labor resources that may work from home or an alternate non-NNS work location in any capacity to fill out the Leased Labor Flexible Office Agreement Request form. This requirement is for management with both current and future leased labor resources. The request must go through the proper signature approvals before the employee is allowed to work at the Alternate Non-NNS work location. If a leased labor resource indicates a foreign national is present in the alternate non-NNS work location, O15 Security Compliance must evaluate the Flexible Office Agreement request and provide approval/denial. Based on OPNAVINST N9210.3 “Safeguarding of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI)”, NNS is contractually mandated to protect NNPI from potential unauthorized disclosure. Access to NNPI are limited to U.S. Citizens with a need to know. This includes prohibiting access to Foreign Nationals. For the purposes of NNPI, a Foreign National is anyone who is not a U.S. Citizen.
