Coordinate overall services for patients. Provide support for the smooth operation of the medical practice and services to the patients.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Reports to the Sleep Medicine Manager.
Coordinates computerized scheduling of all patients, maintaining schedules that reflect individual practitioner's availability and abilities. Responsible for rearranging schedules when necessary, with a minimal amount of disruption or delay to patients.
At the direction of the healthcare provider, schedules appointments for patients with other departments within and outside North Country Health System following proper office procedures. Gives appropriate instructions to patients for all scheduled appointments and documents all appointments scheduled outside of practice in EMR flow sheet.
Courteously receives, places and transfers calls using proper phone etiquette, handling phone information requests with courtesy, accuracy and respect for patient confidentiality. Forwards messages to the appropriate personnel using various forms of communication, including but not limited to writing, phoning, faxing, E-mailing, and EMR messaging. Assists with call confirmations as directed by the Sleep Manager.
Works with providers to ensure follow up, testing and orders are processed timely and scheduled.
Works with patients to cordially and efficiently greet and register them for their appointment. Update and maintains accurate demographics and billing information. Scan insurance cards as appropriate. Request payment of co-pay and balances and records such payments. Obtains consent to care at appropriate time. Acknowledges patient in practice management system.
Communicates any delays in scheduled appointments to the patients.
Demonstrates an ability to work as a team member and to improve upon job performance, procedures, and standards.
Scans patient information according to established protocol.
Adheres to written dress code and maintains an appearance that is neat, clean, and professional.
Maintains patient confidentiality and follows department policies regarding release of information.
Attends department meetings as required.
Strives to be a productive member of the department and the institution and always puts time to good use; seeks out work to be done and is always willing to help co-workers.
Performs other duties as directed by the Sleep Practice Manager.
