Title and Summary
Principal Software Engineer OverviewIn the time between when you swipe your Mastercard and you receive the approval, Authorization Decisioning has provided your transaction with more than 20 different market-facing services—including industry leading fraud detection. Everyday Authorization Decisioning provides these same robust computational intelligence services to more than a billion transactions around the planet.
As a Principal Software Engineer for Authorization Decisioning, you are a technical authority. You are responsible for providing a broad spectrum of technical leadership and decision making across our program and its partners in technology and product. You are a way finder. You are working across organizational lines to partner with architects, product managers, analysts, managers, and engineers to collaboratively and creatively find solutions to evolving our growing platform. You are an enabler. You are hands-on experimenting, building, creating, guiding, and mentoring engineering teams through to seeing the realization of these solutions into production.
Role
• Between 20-40% individual contributor with technical team leadership. Who is recognized as a team/s authority and technical expert within a discipline and drives innovation and organizational growth through their contributions.
• Work on complex enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drives resolution by collaborating with business/product owners, engineers, and architects to design and deliver on new services to introduce new products and bundles
• Has skills to succinctly articulate architecture patterns of complex systems, with business and technical implications, to executive and customer stakeholders
• Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions • Defines requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices.
• Set priorities, objectives, and drive deliverables within global technology domains and sub-domains and engage with the broader technical community to anticipate developments in innovation and evaluate new solutions for future business platform system requirements.
• Leverages input of partners and personal experience to make thoughtful decisions on technical direction and then has the ownership to see those decisions through
• Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems, taking a holistic approach to problem-solving during production events.
• Explain technical issues and solution strategies to stakeholders, ensure timely accomplishment of technical designs and delivery milestones and liaise with stakeholders to understand business needs.

• Designing and crafting the best software this world has ever seen might be your favorite thing, but you know that's not the alpha and omega of your problem set. You relish your time with the SRE, Performance Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to ensure the architectures are correct and tuned and that your teams' code is optimized for each system.
• You know you are responsible for software that is critical financial infrastructure for multiple nation states, but you also know that you can't be everyone all the time, so you've extended your ownership to ensure the SDLC and governance processes are both efficient and responsible.
• You are intelligent and industrious, but people don't know that because you tell them. Its because they see it in the way you lead. From ideation where you make everyone's ideas feel heard and respected all the way through to production crisis where you stick with the engineers to overcome oversights not found until the last minute. Your personal culture sets the team culture.
Proficiencies
• Deep experience in financial services — particularly in payments industry and hands on experience designing for standard and regulatory compliance – PCI-DSS, GDPR, etc.
• Data-intensive designing and architecture patterns – APIs, event-driven-services, batch-services, messaging systems, and big data.
• Data-intensive programming – Java, REST API, Microservices, Kafka, Axon, MQ, and Spring.
• Cloud and DevOps Architecture – Kubernetes, Docker, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
• Databases – Oracle, SQL server, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch
• Tools – Eclipse or IntelliJ, Sonar, GIT, Maven, SQL Developer, Jenkins, CI/CD, Gatling
Education
• Required undergraduate degree in Computer Science or in a STEM-intensive degree program with related experience in software engineering.
• Preferred graduate degree in Computer Science or Business with related experience in fintech and payments. Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $165,000 - $264,000 USDApply on company website
