Web Developer

Job Summary 
The Developer supports the organization's existing software or systems infrastructure and develops new technologies as needed. Individuals in this position must have knowledge of the fundamental theories, principles and concepts of the discipline as well as knowledge gained from the practical application of these principles and concepts on regular basis. 

This person also researches, designs and develops enterprise-wide systems and applications, and is responsible for identifying and implementing innovative and efficient applications to ensure the best experience for the user.  The Developer evaluates current operations to determine areas that need enhancements or restoration and supports business applications by designing and implementing new hardware or software solutions, modifies applications programs from detailed specifications and ensures that improvements are successfully integrated into the existing systems, in addition to developing program logic for new applications and analyzes logic in existing applications. 

Essential Functions 

  • Writes functional and design specifications for applications as identified by users and/or management 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies and adopts suitable concepts for the organization 
  • Responsibilities include design, development, and support of internal and external websites 
  • Assist with level of effort (LOE) and duration estimates for assigned work. Proactively manage activities to meet those expectations 
  • Codes, tests and supports existing and new systems and applications 
  • Ensure unit testing of application development work is correctly completed 
  • Streamlines existing applications and systems to ensure integration and ease of use 
  • Provide development support for analysis and functional and load testing 
  • Eliminates errors in computing environment for smooth operation and functionality 
  • Designs and implements templates, databases and interfaces that fulfill user requirements 
  • Communicates project status, issues and resolutions with appropriate stakeholders 
  • Documents testing and system corrections in compliance with security standards 
  • Communicate and work with graphic developers to create user interfaces 
  • Problem diagnosis and resolution  
  • System maintenance and after-hours support, as needed 
  • Monitors systems' technical performance and identifies trends in operating output 
  • Plans, designs and develops internet web applications.  
  • Writes program specifications using a variety of languages and platforms such as .NET, and HTML.  
  • Codes, tests, debugs and maintains programs and documenting procedures.  
  • Develops proof-of-concepts and user interface prototypes.  
  • Ensures compatibility of applications across multiple computing platforms and browsers. 

Minimum Education and/or Experience: 
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 5+ years of proficient web development experience using web technologies and languages 
  • Requires proficiency in SharePoint design and development and related tools, 3 + years of experience 
  • Knowledge of major operating systems and programming techniques. 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodologies of SDLC,  quality management, change, and problem management   
  • Understanding of unit, functional, performance, and regression testing 
  • Working experience in team environment while communicating and presenting (both verbally and in writing) design concepts to internal/external customers

Special Requirements of the job: 
  • Maintain and develop internet web sites for business operations. 
  • Understands issues related to scalability and reliability 
  • Communicate and work with graphic developers to create user interfaces 
  • Communicate and work within guidelines to ensure maximum search engine optimization and web analytics tracking is achieved 
  • Understanding of IS methodologies such as SDLC, ITIL, PMLC and QA/Test 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server and Internet Information Server (IIS) 
  • Familiarity with many of the following: WordPress, CSS style sheets, Divi, Marketo, APIs / Integrations, Google Analytics / Tags / SEO,  
  • Web visitor analytics 
  • Requires working knowledge of the Agile framework in delivering solutions 

Additional Job Requirements 
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing and moving items  
  • Requires the ability to move around the store, assist customers and maneuver merchandise when necessary 
  • Performs additional job duties as assigned 
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds independently
