The Role

The Senior Lead Architect is  accountable for providing high-quality consultancy, design and implementation services for customers within the EMEA region and specializes in Cloud/Virtualization platforms using VMware, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Windows and/or Red Hat Linux systems and related infrastructure technologies.  Responsibilities include assisting with the generation of Professional Services pipeline of opportunities, advice and consulting, technical assessments, complex architecture design, implementation supervision, migrations and/or transition planning, maintenance, project planning, standards validation and development, technical documentation, training, troubleshooting and problem resolution.

The Main Responsibilities

Demonstrate technical leadership for customers, sales, and other consultants and effectively communicate the technical and business message.

Articulate the Professional Services value proposition to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the generation of a pipeline of new opportunities.

Take a leading role in the generation of supporting collateral such as Tear Sheets, Presentations and, Proposals.

Deliver comprehensive consultancy services to customers and provide in-depth VMware, Edge computing, AWS, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Azure, Red Hat Linux, and proprietary platform, systems design that meet customer requirements and ensure project wins.

Complex solution cost modelling.

Be a Virtualization & Cloud SME ensuring the best possible solution is designed and implemented to meet current and future customer needs and requirements working closely with other more delivery focussed colleagues.

Execution of Cloud Solutions & Transformation Services projects to new and existing customers.

Create comprehensive documentation around designs and project delivery and deliver handover information to integration and support staff.

Work with other Consulting professionals, as well as Pre-Sales, Sales, Operations, Hosting Engineering, Customer Account Managers and Project Management to ensure that custom elements of a solution can be built and fully supported, and that deliverables are clearly defined, and agreed with the customer at the point of sale;

Design & implement virtualization solutions around either new datacentres from the ground up or within a consolidation/transformation program (e.g. Physical to Virtual transformations/migrations).

Scope and deliver high quality Statement of Works (SOW), RFP responses and other proposal materials to support professional and consulting services activities.

Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals with Account Executives, System Engineers, Consultants and Architects.

Perform billable delivery and consultancy work.

Successfully lead complex customer accounts or projects, bridging between the needs of the customer and the company.

Direct the creation of proof-of-concept environments to showcase technology and integrate into customers' existing IT infrastructure.

Produce case studies and technical whitepapers on areas of customer interest.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Must have worked in a customer facing role.

Very strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation).

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

Good experience of making an impact on bids, proposals, and winning business.

Good experience of using consultative technical sales approach and engagement styles.

Must have a proven track record of working with all levels within a customer - should be able to engage at CxO level and convey technical information to a non-technical audience.

Must have the ability to produce and present flowing and articulate presentations, to control the flow and delivery of content to diverse audiences at customer meetings and seminars.

The ability to lead the delivery of customer focused workshops, showing agility and a capability to be creative.

Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering technical design solutions on time and on budget.

Previous experience in designing, implementing and administering complex solutions incorporating disparate technologies such as AWS, Azure, VMware, SRM, Windows 2003-2012 and/or Linux platforms with associated relevant industry/vendor certifications (e.g. AWS, Azure, MCSE, VCP);

Solid expertise on VMware products is vital (including, but not only: vSphere, SRM, vCloud Director).

Experience of DevOps models and associated technologies such as Jenkins, Github, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Ansible, Python and Docker.

Good understanding/experience of n-tier application architectures.

The ability to deliver without a pre-defined customer agenda.

The ability to document solution components in a timely manner while ensuring acceptable level of detail, data integrity, and accountability.

Demonstrable experience in the IT industry – should be a trusted and respected TDA/SME as well as a technical advisor both to the customer and to his/her peers.

Strong security knowledge, including lockdown & hardening, security & group policies.

Experience in automated build processes, scripting languages/tools.

Knowledge of Visio or other drawing and documentation tools.
