The Research Nurse (LVN-2) is responsible for facilitating the implementation and management of clinical research conducted by LLUHS. Coordinates care, subject screening, recruitment, exams, blood draws and collects required specimens, investigational drug administration (within LVN scope of practice), accurate follow-up and documentation of patient's medical experience, accurate documentation of research data, and research charges. Maintains current knowledge of all industry trends affecting national and local research activity. Works independently and balances priorities upon receipt of project direction and focus from clinical supervisor, and/or the PI. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum two years nursing experience required. Minimum two years clinical research experience required. Minimum six months of experience in processing and shipping of research samples preferred. EMR Proficiency Test or equivalent within 90 days of hire. Unrestricted, active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) certifications required. International Air Transport Association (IATA) certificate required within 90 days of hire. IV/Phlebotomy certification required. Certified Clinical Research Coordinator Society of Clinical Research Associate's (SoCRA) preferred but must be completed upon 1 year of hire date. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
Working knowledge of HIPAA guidelines; handling Biohazard materials; good clinical practice; ICH guidelines. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to keyboard 30 words per minute. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.Additional Information
