Access Center Operations (Full-time, Day Shift) -

The Central Scheduler is responsible for professionally answering incoming calls for the Access Center in order to provide a variety of services through utilizing state-of-the-art telecommunications and computer information systems. Accurately coordinates the scheduling and pre-registration, insurance eligibility, and benefits for both hospital and physician practice services. Assists the patient by explaining insurance eligibility status and plan benefits, assigns appropriate referral/authorization based on insurance requirements, for patients of all reimbursement types, and provides day of service instructions for scheduled appointments. Provides general caller transfers and registration for a variety of classes, programs and events, physician to physician communication, general public information for LLUH marketing lead initiatives, physician referral services and point of service collections. Ensure appointments and pre-registration activities are completed efficiently and within performance expectations; maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction, friendliness and professionalism. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of call handling experience in a customer service, sales environment, or clinical experience required; preferably three year of experience in Healthcare in a customer service call center.
Experience with various insurance products preferred (managed care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, commercial insurances and California Children's Services). Able to keyboard 35 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g. Outlook, Epic, Jabber). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
