Our core values are compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork and wholeness.The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect, age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care in the role of a telemetry technician, patient care assistant, and or unit secretary under the direct supervision of the RN as assigned. Must be flexible and accept changing assignments and job duties at the beginning and throughout the shift as requested. This position will receive supplemental pay for exhibiting flexibility and maintaining competencies required of the telemetry technician, patient care assistant, and unit secretary. Seeks information and clarification of duties throughout shift when necessary. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a basic dysrhythmia and recognition course and completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing fundamentals required. Completion of Emergency Medical Technician program may be considered in lieu of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Minimum six months experience as either a patient care assistant, telemetry technician, or unit secretary preferred.Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Able to: write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot basic equipment necessary to the position. Demonstrates competency in detail work and accuracy. Able to: communicate and relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; comprehend and follow-through with instructions; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Able to: communicate effectively in English (and Spanish preferred), in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to see clearly to distinguish colors and shapes on the computer and hard copies of documents necessary to the position; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; discern temperature variances through touch.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certified Nursing assistant (CNA) or Certified Emergency Medical Technician preferred. Additional Information
