Job Scope:

The Safety/Training Supervisor is responsible for enhancing the safety program and sustainable training needs of Leslie's distribution employees. The Training Supervisor actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance processes, achieve cost savings and improve value stream productivity.



  1. Meet or exceed Annual Warehouse Safety inspection of 90%.
  2. Drive Employee Incident / Accident's down from prior year.


Essential Competencies:

  • The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for the implementation and adherence of all aspects of our Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (Occupational Safety/Health Program) for the site.
  • Analyze accident information, identify trends and key problem areas, and communicate to site leadership.
  • Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices and respond and aid in all emergency situations.
  • Participate in development and implementation of hazard control method and safety procedures.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Site Leadership, Corporate and Safety Committee to develop action plans to reduce workplace injuries and incidents, and promote employee engagement in health and safety programs.
  • Partner with Management and Safety Committee, as well as Operations and HR, to ensure all new hires receive safety orientation, and manage annual training requirements for existing employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of warehouse management safety accountability program.
  • Identify innovative ways to grow and maintain a strong safety culture and revamp employee safety training programs as necessary.
  • Partner with Director of Distribution Planning and other site Safety Supervisors to leverage safety and environmental best practices into overall standards.
  • Conducts initial training for new hires where an annual and quarterly training and development needs assessments is performed.
  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Distribution with analyzing training needs, developing curriculum and delivering courses for the location, division, and organization.
  • Assures training programs are maintained current by incorporating new information, plant design changes, plant procedural changes and revisions, new regulations into training content.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, supervisors and managers to develop specific training to meet the needs identified by audit or other means.
  • Coordinates training schedules and evaluates external training resources.
  • Partners with the HR Manager to address training gaps and identify training opportunities as well as other GPI initiatives.
  • Responsible for timely development of training metrics for measurement of training, and records.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR Staff

  • Strong oral, written, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Some computer skills may be required.
