Monogram, part of LabCorp's Specialty Testing Group, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join its clinical laboratory in the Cell Assay group in South San Francisco! The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for virology testing and administrative assignments performed in this section; these include but are not limited to transfection, refeeding, cellular infection, protocols, manipulation of 96 well plates, operation of various dispensers and automated sample handling systems.

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for specimen processing, performing test procedures, data analysis and reporting test results
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Review and release results in the Laboratory Information System
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Perform appropriate QA/QC procedures
  • Actively participate in continuing education and in service training programs for licensure
  • Reagent and viral stock preparation and qualification
  • Assist in the oversight of unlicensed laboratory staff and provides technical support for clinical laboratory scientists in training
  • May assist in development of new assays and technology transfer from research and development
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory or similar scientific field
  • Requires current State of California Clinical Laboratory license (CLS Generalist)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Single and/or multi-channel pipetting experience desired
  • Good understanding of statistical methods and application to the analysis of complex assays
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, flexible environment
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors
Shift 1 Schedule Monday - Friday, 6am - 2:30pm with rotating weekends
