Registered Nurse, Allergy Clinic and Anti-coagulation Management Services Clinic
Hours of Work: Part-time Position; Days
Pay Range: $33.23-$47.57
Location: Hotel Dieu Hospital Site
The Registered Nurse provides services in a manner consistent with HDH Mission, Vision and Values and that reflects the core values of Patient and Family Centred Care (dignity, respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration); practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and ethical values as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario; is accountable and responsible for the delivery of care consistent with the Strategic Direction of the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Is able to demonstrate competencies that are essential for the delivery of safe and effective client care; applies an unique set of skills and knowledge in the provision of family focused care in a very busy clinic environment that promotes autonomy in nursing practice; works as a member of a multidisciplinary team in Anticoagulation Management Services (AMS) and the Allergy Clinic; responsible for patient assessment and education and participation in departmental and hospital activities which are supportive of professional and corporate objectives; collaborates and communicates effectively with clients, families and all members of the health care team of multidisciplinary professionals and support personnel; contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives. AMS- Duties include but not limited to medication titration following a medical directive, knowledge of warfarin-mechanism of action, indications of use and clinical considerations, bridging of patients on warfarin, patient education, telephone practice and email communication, inputting patient information into AMS data base and other administrative duties specific to the nursing coordination of these AMS patients. Allergy clinic duties include but not limited to Focused Physicial Assessment prior to and during treatment, Knowledge of Anaphylaxis, Monitoring for allergic reactions for skin prick testing, intradermal skin testing and immunotherapy, patch testing, spirometery testing, food and drug challenges, Drug and venom testing, patient and family education for adult and pediatric population, ordering allergy serums, reconstitution of venom allergy serums.
- Current certification of competence as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario (CNO)
- 3-5 years recent related nursing experience in a medical setting
- Experience with working in a paediatrics setting
- Ambulatory clinic experience preferred
- BCLS certification
- Current Criminal Reference Check (CRC) that includes a Vulnerable Sector Search administered by Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC)
- Proven good attendance
- Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Capable of coping in a physically and mentally demanding work environment
- Ability to function independently as well as interdependently
