Keeps machinery, equipment, and plant structure in operating condition.
Plant equipment includes battery manufacturing equipment of all types and plant utilities. Repairs
machines, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and fits replacement parts and/or makes replacement parts as
required. Checks and repairs test instruments. Must be able to do electrical, plumbing, heating.
Must be able to read schematics and blueprints, capable of servicing and operating rectifiers,
capable of operating precision hand tools, and electronic equipment. Moves equipment to new
locations. Adjusts machines for production when adjustment is beyond the scope of operator.
Modifies equipment as required. Installs new equipment including hook up of electrical power,
gas, water, air, etc. Maintains and installs piping, fittings, valves, gauges, and all types of controls
for hydraulic systems, gas and air lines.
Requires ability to set up and operate drill press, grinder, power saws, welder, etc., and
improvises where equipment is limited. Experience with lathe and milling machine is preferred.
Designs and builds small tools and fixtures from sketches or verbal instructions. Makes periodic
checks of machines and equipment and performs preventive maintenance as required: oils,
greases, etc. Performs carpentry and sheet metal work in fabricating and repairing benches,
guards, boxes, trays, etc. Makes sketches for and builds racks, bins, shelves, and other aids to
production. Requires ability to plan and lay out work, determines accurate and efficient methods,
and diagnoses and corrects difficulties to minimize production interruptions. Required to provide
hand tools and equipment to perform normal maintenance tasks.
Works under minimal supervision.
May order supplies and help maintain maintenance work records. May procure materials from
secured tool crib and log-out items removed from crib as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Must pass background check and medical screening
Must have 8 years mechanical/electrical practical work experience in a manufacturing
Must be able to work overtime as required
