Auto Body Paint Trainer

  • Location: Appleton, WI
  • 3 Month contract opportunity with a lot of opportunity to extend or become permanent based on skills and knowledge demonstrated
  • Pay Rate: $38-$40/hr. Some flexibility depending on experience, skills and knowledge
  • Shift: 1st
Job Summary
As an Auto Body Painting Trainer, you will be responsible for instructing and guiding employees in a wide array of automotive painting and bodywork techniques. You will teach essential skills such as basic painting, masking methods, defect inspection, and tool operation while fostering strong communication and teamwork. Your expertise will help elevate our team's craftsmanship and ensure consistent, high-quality results. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Deliver hands-on training sessions covering basic automotive painting techniques.
  • Demonstrate and instruct on proper masking, taping, reverse masking, and soft-edge masking procedures.
  • Train employees to operate body tools including DA sanders, hand sanding tools, air files, and weld grinders.
  • Teach safe and effective selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Guide employees in proper cleaning and preparation of parts for painting.
  • Provide instruction on communication, teamwork, and workplace professionalism.
  • Operate and train others on forklift usage as needed for material handling.
  • Use MS Office to track training progress and maintain instructional materials.
  • Inspect bodywork for defects and train employees on identifying and correcting issues.
  • Demonstrate dent and defect removal using body tools, hammer, and dolly.
  • Teach employees how to read and follow written work instructions and verbal directions.
  • Instruct on buffing and polishing techniques for painted surfaces.
  • Train on sanding techniques for metal, primer, and painted surfaces.
  • Guide mixing and sanding of body filler to ensure seamless repairs.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in auto body painting and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of masking, painting, and sanding techniques.
  • Familiarity with body shop tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
  • Strong organizational and teaching abilities.
