Exciting new position - Patient Evaluation and Education Clinic (PEEC) physician will lead and coordinate all perioperative optimization services. This will include management of the perioperative risk decision tool, coordinating with service line chiefs to provide expert infused, evidence-based approach to perioperative optimization, as well as coordinating with outside vendors to ensure that patients are optimized for surgical procedures. If needed, will independently perform comprehensive history and physical exams on patients scheduled for surgery. Required to obtain, interpret, and respond to normal and abnormal findings discovered during visit or on diagnostic lab or other studies. And expected to manage the systems that support the educational and emotional components of preparing patients for surgery.
*Lead the development and maintenance of the perioperative care pathway at Kaiser Permanente GA and nationally.
*Coordinate with surgical service line chiefs and outside vendors around optimal perioperative optimization.
*Coordinate, as needed, with internal medical specialists to ensure timely perioperative workups were indicated.
- *Coordination includes, but not limited to providing necessary care, ordering ancillary services and/or developing treatment plans that prepare patients for surgeries and procedures. When appropriate, documenting in the electronic medical record that patient is cleared for surgeries and procedures so that TSPMG and external providers can see that patient is cleared.
- *Define the optimal laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic workup for perioperative optimization.
- *Assess patients and determine if there are any contraindications to outpatient surgery based on established criteria.
*Lead the perioperative optimization clinic.
FTE is split: .1 Clinical Admin and .4 Clinical
