Division Overview Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

The Manager of Strategic Market Intelligence is responsible for collecting, evaluating, and organizing industry source data to create a deep and actionable understanding of the competitive business environment. The emphasis of this position is “strategic” in scope, in that it will focus on gaining strategic level understanding of the macro utility market, including utility spending amounts, patterns of spending, megatrends, competitor share, regulation factors, and c-suite level customer thinking. This understanding will be used as vital information in the consideration of corporate acquisitions, new product development, and growth planning strategies. Working closely with internal business teams, this position must synthesize and convey data-driven findings into clear and structured insights.Duties and Responsibilities
Research and understand the utility market landscape in areas of utility spending, competitive share, megatrend projections, regulatory factors, and any other key defining areas. Gather information from high level customer interactions, internal experts across the enterprise, consulting experts, internal marketing analysts, industry data, and published market analysis.
Build strong relationships with peers, Hubbell business leaders, and Hubbell function leaders (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance) to collaborate and to support these partners with intelligence that informs the development of planning roadmaps, NPD business cases, and acquisition targets. Consult with business partners to ensure that research initiatives and activities are aligned with strategic direction and objectives.
Participate with peers in the development of growth strategies in the areas of product development, acquisitions, and organizational development.
Centrally organize market intelligence in a manner that is most effective for all appropriate parties to utilize. Generate market intelligence documents that are visually intuitive toward conveying important commercial insights.
Manage regular updates to senior business partners on progress and actionable insights related to competitive positioning and strategies.Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Market Research, Analytics, Business, or equivalent related field/work experience.
7+ years' experience in a Financial Analysis, Market Research, or comparable research role.
Ability to gather and analyze data as it applies to current and future direction while understanding the implications of both new and current information in problem-solving or decision-making.
Ability to effectively communicate with other functional areas of the company.
Strong attention to detail, and excellent organization and time management skills; can work under externally imposed deadlines.
Advanced Excel skills (e.g., analyze large data bases, pivot tables, V-lookups, and formulas).
Self-motivated to develop expertise in industry trends and the use of data and analytics to recommend meaningful growth strategies.
Flexibility in shifting day-to-day activities to support a dynamic team environment
