Division Overview Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. Position Overview

Manage and coordinates activities of supervisor and employees engaged in making cores and molds; charging, operating, and tapping furnaces; pouring molten metal into molds; and sawing, grinding, and finishing castings.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes for the improvement of existing products and the introduction of new ones.
  • Examines materials and products to ensure they conform to specifications. Manages machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs.
  • Teaches/coaches supervisors/employees in foundry processes and in operation of machines and equipment.
  • Develop, implement and manage scrap reduction initiatives.
  • Must handle interpersonal aspects of the job; disciplinary activity, work rule enforcement and labor relations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvement.
  • Participate in, and at times, lead capital improvement projects.
Skills and Experience
  • Flexible to work early and late into shifts; ability to communicate effectively; ability to perform duties with minimal oversight.
  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering, Business or Operations preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a foundry floor-support role.
  • Continuous improvement and lean experience in a foundry environment.
  • Budgeting experience as well as material/operating supplies procurement.
  • Hands on manager with significant front line experience on the process side.
  • Understanding of green sand molding process and controls.
  • Experience with the maintenance of foundry controls, monitors and foundry processes. Previous experience in a secondary casting or machining experience a plus.
  • Understanding of the non-ferrous melting process, spectrometer, induction furnaces and scrap control.
  • Understanding of aluminum and bronze alloys.
  • SAP, SPC, LEAN Manufacturing, ISO, general computer skills.
Education Bachelors Degree
