Division Overview Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

The Director of Strategy and Business Development is responsible for growth planning. This involves researching, identifying, validating a future state vision. This vision should meet our business objectives while incorporating the realities of the customer landscape, competitor landscape, and internal capabilities. This position is responsible for articulating the vision, which includes development of a customer solutions roadmap, a technology roadmap, and an organization roadmap. This position collaborates heavily with peers and business leaders across the enterprise to foster agreement around the vision, to correct the vision as needed, and to inform the direction of needed NPI's, acquisitions, and organization restructure in support of that vision. This position continuously repeats these efforts to update the vision to improve it and to account for changing conditions.Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with peers in market intelligence and business leaders across the enterprise to gather the information needed to formulate a vision for our future state, and for a growth plan to achieve that state.
Coordinates with peers and business leaders across the enterprise to define a growth plan that achieves our business objectives while incorporating the realities of our customer landscape, competitor landscape, and internal capabilities. The growth plan should include roadmaps from our current state to the desire future state in the areas of customer solutions, technology, and organization structure.
Clearly articulate growth plans with various documents and intuitive illustrations that can be effectively used for many audiences for vetting and alignment. Audiences to consider are customers, consultants, executive management, board of directors, business leaders, functional managers, and individual contributors.
Rapidly, clearly, and compellingly communicate with a core cross-section of audiences mentioned above for the purpose of vetting the growth plan and to establish alignment around the best plan. When alignment is achieved, assure that the plan is effectively shared with all appropriate individuals in the organization that need to know, or would want to know.
Act as a strong partner to commercial leaders throughout HPS organization to incorporate their products into an integrated value proposition.
Continually cycle through the actions above to make needed adjustments to the plan in order to assure it is refreshed to account for changing knowledge and changing landscape.
Participate with peers in translating the growth plan to specific actions in the areas of product development, acquisitions, and organizational development.Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent related field/work experience.
10 years' experience in a senior role in Market Research, Business Analytics, Project Management or comparable business role.
Excellent written and verbal skills. Solid public speaking skills; able to present ideas, conclusions, and recommendations with clarity to diverse business audiences.
Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics
Strong attention to detail, and excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary functions (engineering, sales, operations, etc.).
Good general business acumen
Highly motivated to develop expertise in industry trends and the use of data and analytics to recommend meaningful growth strategies.
