Division Overview Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. The Director of Market Intelligence is responsible for collecting and maintaining competitive research to create a deep and actionable understanding of the customer and of the competitive business environment. This understanding will be used in the consideration of corporate acquisitions, new product development, and growth planning strategies. Working closely with internal business teams, this position must synthesize and convey data-driven findings into clear and structured insights. The emphasis of this position is “general” in scope, in that it will focus on a balanced approach toward gaining both a strategic level understanding of the market, and technical level understanding of tactical customer needs.Duties and Responsibilities
Create and manage clear and actionable strategic insights of the macro market, and fast-paced tactical customer learning for product usage cases.
Research and understand the competitive landscape in areas of utility spending, competitive share and megatrend projections; keeping the organization informed.
Manage regular updates to senior business partners on projects related to competitive positioning and strategies.
Generate critical business case vetting insights such as Rapid LSU style customer learning cycles and demonstrate continuous success in quality and quantity of customer learning insights.
Build strong relationships with peers, Hubbell business leaders, and Hubbell function leaders (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance) to collaborate and to support these partners with intelligence that informs the development of planning roadmaps, NPI business cases, and acquisition targets. Consult with business partners to ensure that research initiatives and activities are aligned with strategic direction and objectives.
Cooperate with peers to participate in the development of growth strategies in the areas of product development, acquisitions, and organizational development.
Centrally manage market intelligence in a manner that is most effective for all appropriate parties to utilize. Generate market intelligence documents that are visually intuitive toward conveying important commercial insights.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent related field/work experience.
