POSITION SUMMARY: The hose product engineering team is responsible for the design, development, and performance testing of hoses used in hydraulic, fluid transfer, and automotive applications. The product sustaining engineering group is responsible for changes to existing products, product line extensions, and specification maintenance on existing products. The sustaining group is also responsible for providing technical support to quality assurance, answering complex technical product questions in collaboration with product application and the customer response center, and approving new and substitution materials used in hose products. Product development engineers with the sustaining group will focus on engineering work related to existing hose products. This will include creating project proposals, making designs to match existing product lines, executing experimental builds, monitoring testing, and interpreting results in order to extend current product lines. In addition to product development for line extensions sustaining engineering provides technical support for quality, product application, and the customer response center for hoses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support development of derivative products through experimental builds, testing, and results interpretation
  • Create project resource estimations including scope, risk assessment, qualifications plan, and schedules
  • Modifications and updates to existing product build specifications
  • Hose testing requirements system maintenance
  • Product technical support for cross functional teams including quality assurance, process engineering, and product application
    • Interaction with a cross functional global team (including manufacturing, R&D, commercial, etcetera)
    • Must be able to quickly learn to apply core engineering and six sigma skills such as problem solving, SPC data collection and analysis, FMEA, DOE, etcetera
    • In order to provide the appropriate support there will be 15-30% travel, including international locations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role is for an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE:
  • 0 to 4 years of engineering experience
  • Background with functional application of engineering techniques listed in essential duties and responsibilities is preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Must be able to independently manage time and task execution needs
  • Ability to interpret and apply mathematical and statistical models and information
  • Experience and confidence in face-to-face, telephone, and email communications
  • Ability to work with a cross functional team, as well as team members from other areas of the organization including those in other nations
  • Computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and timeline projection (e.x. Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, and Project)
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes and new systems as needed
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or EIT certification with engineering work experience required
