Position Summary:
The Vice President of Marketing will develop and execute overall downstream marketing strategies to meet commercial financial objectives for Fresenius Medical Care's Home Products Business (NxStage). A successful VP of Marketing must understand product technology, customer requirements, and competitive positioning to develop and execute marketing strategies to gain and sustain market share. Specific responsibilities include business and market development; market research and planning; strategic direction for promotion and advertising; coordination with sales; and hiring and directing the day-to-day activities of marketing staff. In addition, this position would provide oversight of both B2C and B2B marketing functions while testing and pushing boundaries to reach these medical-device audiences using cutting edge tools, tactics and story-telling.
Responsibilities:
Drive Home Marketing (PD and HHD) annual strategic planning/budgeting process to ensure both top-line and bottom-line goals are reached
Develops marketing plans and sales forecasts translating them into operations and profit plans to achieve growth and sales objectives
Lead design programs to optimize the marketing of NxStage products and services
Oversee the gathering and processing of data into forms that allow evaluations. Partner with Sales Operations team to create insightful metrics reports to optimize areas of the business
Deeply understand, synthesize, and efficiently communicate market conditions (e.g., customer needs, reimbursement issues, competitor activities) to allow NxStage to successfully plan business activities
Create and develop excellent working relationships with Third Party Advocacy groups to increase visibility of home hemodialysis options
Prepare and maintain an annual business plan (customer targeting, product definition and positioning, pricing/contract terms, forecasting, distribution requirements, input to capacity planning)
Accountable for all of the aspects involved in NxStage commercialization efforts on time and on budget (e.g., launch, ongoing marketing)
Oversee all Patient, HCP and Dialysis Provider marketing tactics to increase penetration of our home hemodialysis therapy
Includes traditional collateral, tradeshows, speaker's bureau, patient meetings, email, digital marketing and social media
Coach and mentor team of head-quarter and field-based marketers to ensure they meet business unit and professional growth goals
Oversee Patient Consultant team and NxStage Patient Advocates
Set strategic direction for public relations agency
Drive engineering leadership to discuss ongoing product development (features definition and prioritization, preparation of marketing requirements, input to product specifications)
Lead preparation for marketing and educational materials to support commercial efforts (white papers, web site, training programs – internal and external, product brochures, etc.)
Drive monthly business reporting (sales performance, KPI's etc.)
Create and develop strong partnerships with Field Sales, National Accounts and Product Management leaders to “de-silo” the business and unlock additional growth potential
Education & Qualifications:
BA/BS in Marketing or other business related field
MBA Strongly Preferred
15+ years sales/marketing experience
10+ years successful track record in sales of medical/hospital products
Diverse experiences in managing a range of administrative areas of responsibility
Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Proven leadership skills
Ability to work with all levels of management to influence positive change
Confident, calm, level-headed, and even tempered under pressure
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work without direct supervision and meet established deadlines
Strategic thinker always looking ahead for potential opportunities in the market place
Possess a strategic focus as well as an operational, implementation and detail oriented perspective
