To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Director of Design & Engineering located in our Milan, Italy site and center of excellence for design and development of Medical device.

As the Director of Design & Engineering, you will lead teams in creating innovative solutions from concept to prototyping, detail design and transfer to production. You'll collaborate with key leaders across NPI, Manufacturing, and Product development teams to drive the design, validation, and implementation of Medical device and equipment that meet customer needs. This is a high-impact role where you'll shape cutting-edge solutions at every stage of development.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Lead and support the management team within Design Engineering , ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee engineering activities, set priorities, and promote strategic initiatives and new capabilities.
  • Guide organizational change to meet evolving business needs and define growth opportunities based on industry trends.
  • Collaborate with HR on talent development strategies and focus on retaining top engineering talent.
  • Implement best engineering practices, including DfX and Lean methodologies, while monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Manage the Engineering department's budget and resources effectively.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Quality, Finance, Sourcing, Commercial. Technology etc.) to ensure alignment on goals.
  • Customer front end for escalation management and business development support
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Functional Managers.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong experience managing either small and large projects, including budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering teams.
  • Experienced in working in dynamic environment, able to embrace changes and drive teams in collaborative and coworking model with global teams
  • Experience working with customers and suppliers in structured product development environments (e.g., Medical, Automotive, Military
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Fluent in English.
