The growth of data on our Personalization platforms has built the need for deeper skills, specifically passionate about Apache Spark and Cassandra data processing. To support our growth in this area, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Data Engineer / Developer who will become an integral part of the customer personalization team. This role focuses on consumption of large volumes of data from many data sources, translation and processing of that data, and redefining this data into consumable components through APIs, in order to provide a personalized experience across all customer interfacing channels, including digital and live channels. Additionally, this role requires good technical security experience with sensitive and critical data elements, with a skillset encompassing cloud (AWS) data technologies to provide the most effective and efficient recommendation and personalization experience possible for our customers!

Primary Responsibilities
  • Thrive in a multifaceted, fast paced, highly upbeat TEAM based environment.

  • Design, develop and execute Apache Spark analytical jobs across several data sources and types, utilizing both Java and Scala and interfacing with Apache Cassandra; will be crafting and developing RestFUL Java API's.

  • Exposure and/or development with messaging technologies (Kafka) is a plus and experience with AWS managed services such as RDS (PostgreSQL, Oracle and DynamoDB), Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS and Kinesis.

  • Updating and building standards around data ingestion and processes within the analytics ecosystem for scalable and maintainable platforms.

  • Identification of currently inefficient processes and data flows and proposed future state, passionate about data quality and performance.

  • Full grasp of continuous integration and delivery, including branching strategies, automated unit tests, static analysis (code structure and security), automated deployment and functional automation within CI Pipelines.

Education And Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: data analysis, software engineering or database development.

  • Experience working in an agile development environment encouraged (Scrum and/or Kanban).

  • BS/BA or proven analytical and technical ability.

  • Experience working with analytic and partner to understand and propose solutions and approaches to sophisticated analytic problems.

  • Exposure to DataStax Enterprise (Cassandra and Spark).

  • Nice to have: Experience with large-scale data sets (50+ terabytes .. 1+ petabyte); exposure to Relational Database and traditional ETL Tools (Oracle, Informatica).

  • Good communication skills across both business and technical communities

  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with multi-functional teams

  • Proactive and able to handle sophisticated projects unsupervised

  • Proven ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; gaining consensus; influence without authority

  • Proficient in SQL, Java, Scala, Python

  • Strong working DevOps techniques and basic project management skills

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills along with results driven with ability to clearly articulate and deliver business value

  • Must have financial services experience
