Through individual and group counseling, the Diabetes Educator focuses on lifestyle and behavior modification in the areas of nutrition, exercise, and management of disease and reinforces treatment plan as ordered by provider.
Bachelor's Degree in Health related field. Master's degree preferred. One year of experience in healthcare or related field. Two or more years prior experience as an RN, RD, CDE or Health Educator preferred. Maintain current BLS. Registered Nurse in the State of California, Registered Dietitian, or Certified Diabetes Educator. Must be proficiently skilled in the application and use of Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication. Working knowledge of HMO requirements for health education.
