InSinkErator, the world's largest manufacturer of disposers and hot water dispensers, is currently seeking a Tool & Die Maker Trainee to work in its Racine, WI manufacturing location.




JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Tool Room Supervisor, department lead, or higher classified journeyman, this position will perform entry-level Tool & Die Maker criteria, and progress through a series of established skill criteria leading to Journeyman level. (See Tool Room progression for details.) Skill development will be reviewed periodically.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Progress through a series of established skill criteria applicable to maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing stamping dies, die components and production tooling.

  • Under supervised guidance, interpret complex component drawings; produce parts to print tolerances; maintain dies, die components and tooling; install and adjust die and tooling as necessary.

  • Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc.

  • Comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or equivalent. Successfully complete a basic skills inventory.

  • Successful completion of the following: Blueprint Reading (606-111), Applied Math I & II (804-370; 804-371), and Precision Measuring (623-185) classes.



OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings, and safely operate tool room machinery.
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern punch press principles.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with whole numbers and decimals; understand geometric functions and perform basic calculations; and perform trigonometry calculations as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, lead personnel, and supervisors.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while maintaining acceptable levels of productivity.
