Join our team and start your journey today.A METALLURGICAL TECHNICIAN performs safely and accurately metallurgical sample preparations, such that subsequent testing and evaluations can be conducted in accordance with applicable standards, specifications. The employee works with different types of equipment in labs like different stage of metallographs exams, tribology testing, salt fog testing, etc. This position works under minimal supervision and is responsible for assisting engineers in lab operations involving testing, R&D, and quality inspections to verify that all products align with the required Emerson quality. The person will perform routine technical tasks, including operating and maintaining equipment, testing and data collection, as well as conducting analysis and experimental procedures.

  • Prepare test specimens, sets up and adjusts sample prep equipment, and records/reports test data
  • Perform metallurgical, tribo-testing testing, salt fog testing, and documents relevant data & results
  • Provide guidance and training to others on the metallurgical/materials Engineering team as required 
  • Work with other staff to meet work and testing obligations to satisfy customer needs
  • Maintain & calibrates relevant equipment, tools, & machinery to ensure good working condition
  • Assist Lab Manager with processes, qualities, and processes improvements
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety & quality procedures, specifications, and in accordance with regulatory agencies' mandates
  • Serve as an active participant for our team's usage of tools such as 5S, safety, etc.
  • Employee need to gather data, prepare powerpoint slides and share with engineers/customers 
  • Most recent metallurgical sample preparation and testing experiences: knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices, ability to operate general metallurgical/laboratory equipment.
  • Current experience with metallography & microstructural examination and documentation: micro-and macro-etching, digital macro photography & micro photomicroscopy, 3D imaging, interpretation, and documentation
  • Macro and Microhardness Testing, use of chemical analysis tools/equipment, etc.
  • Testing, data acquisitions, and PPT slides preparation

We offer a work-life balance to our employees. Typical working hours for this role are 7:00AM-4:00PM or 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Mondays through Fridays.
  • High-School graduate (or equivalent) with 5 years of experience required minimum; Associate degree in technology with 2 years experiences
  • Experience in interpreting Customer Testing Procedures, Specifications, and Requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Exhibits knowledge of common testing standards, quality, and data systems.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect. Ability to work with individuals and customers at all levels and from a variety of locations
  • Ability to travel up to 5% for the position.  
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be available. 

  • Associate Degree in the technology field is preferable
  • Metallography & Microstructural Examination and Documentation: Etching, Digital Macro Photography & Micro Photomicroscopy, 3D imaging
  • Running equipment and data collection experiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Exhibits knowledge of common testing standards, quality, and data systems.
  • Knowledge of SEM, XRF, other elemental analytical tools/equipment
  • Maintenance & calibration of relevant equipment, tools, & machinery to ensure good working condition
