Accountable for the Global Data Center network services that provide the foundation for hosted workloads to connect securely both internally and externally. This includes networking in the Emerson Global Data Centers in St Louis and Marshalltown, Regional Data Centers in London and Hong Kong.

Works closely with the Cloud Operations Team, as required, to support the extension of Data Center networking into our Cloud offering.

Responsible for the overall solution and service design for Emerson?s Global Firewall Services, Application Delivery Services and DDI solutions (DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management).


Service Owner

  • Act as the single point of contact for Data Center networking within the organisation for both IT customers and internal Corporate IT

  • Maintain Service Roadmaps to ensure all service components remain current/supported and continue to meet business requirements

  • Understand the Data Center, internal/external to maintain a strategy

  • Represents Data Center in our QSSR (Quarterly Service Strategy Review)

  • Ensure all services comply with any local regulation working with our legal and compliance teams

  • Ensure the service has the appropriate metrics in place to track capacity, resource utilisation, user experience and OLA/SLA?s

  • Work closely with the Operations team to monitor service incidents and requests looking for areas of improvement and commonality that can be addressed in the next release of the service

  • Work with the Cloud Operations Manager to maintain alignment between the Data Center and Cloud Services roadmaps where required to meet business requirements

  • Work closely with our governance/risk and compliance function to ensure the appropriate risk assessments are carried out on all remote access connectivity and that the assessments remain relevant to the services and associated risks

  • Work with our finance team to maintain the budget for the service globally

  • Ensure all Data Center and Cloud networking projects are entered into our project dashboard for prioritisation, resource assignment and execution

  • Work as required as part of a project team consisting of design, transition and operational resources to ensure projects for the Data Center networking service are completed to schedule and budget

  • Work closely with operations and transition on maintaining the knowledge database for Data Center networking services to include the public and internal SharePoint sites for IT support and request fulfilment

    Escalation Support

  • During major service issues work with the appropriate teams to ensure swift resolution
  • Works with Engineering on chronic Problems determining root cause and remediation actions


  • Manage a team of engineers focused on Data Center networking



  • BA/BS in Information Systems or related area required


  • Excellent Communication and Teamwork skills
  • Experience of managing a small matrixed service team of people across different geographies
  • Process Discipline and Documentation skills essential
  • Experience in managing and operating an IT Service, including financials
  • Experience in simplifying complex issues and presenting to non-technical audiences
  • Broad knowledge of networking, in particular, Cisco Routing and Cisco Data Center Switching
  • Broad knowledge of Load Balancer and Next Generation Firewall technology, in particular, F5 and Palo Alto
  • Broad knowledge of Information Security and best practice in relation to data centers/cloud and segmentation
  • Minimum ten years experience of working in a global environment, dealing with multiple time zones essential
  • Experience of operating in an Enterprise environment with strict change control procedures
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
