Join our team and start your journey today.Description This position is responsible to establish and direct all facets of the Nuclear Engineering department in order to be the Global Nuclear Engineering & Drafting Center that provides support to all nuclear engineering teams within the Nuclear BU including Marshalltown, Cernay, Armentieres, Korschenbroich and Mansfield.

This position plays a key technical interface role within the Nuclear BU, being the link between Wuqing and all Nuclear BU engineering departments across the different sites. In addition, this role will be a key interface with PMO teams to understand engineering work progress and capacity & to manage document controllers. As part of the role, a strong connection and support to the Nuclear China sales team is expected as well as strong connections and support to all Nuclear Chinese customers – SNPEC, CNPEC, CNPE…

The product scope of this engineering manager position will include control valves, safety valves, isolation valves and actuation products.

This position will have responsibility for department budget, capacity planning & resources, hardware, software, and test tools, scheduling, priority setting, and communication.

As a critical part of the role, this position should ensure engineering work is conducted to achieve Global Nuclear Safety and in accordance with the Company Ethics policy, Quality System and Trade Compliance procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Nuclear Engineering Team making sure that engineering and drafting work is completed on time, within budget, and meeting quality objectives.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Global Nuclear Engineering Support team assuring team members develop their skills and knowledge in the right environment and receive adequate product and engineering training

  • Work closely with Engineering Managers of Marshalltown, Cernay, Armentieres, Korschenbroich and Mansfield to build capacity plans and allocate Wuqing nuclear engineering and drafting resources to specific nuclear projects

  • Standardize the different type of engineering tasks by site by defining written customized practices to explain steps to follow to complete any type of work submitted by each site.

  • Track hours spend by engineering activity, project and site to reallocate nuclear engineering costs to each nuclear site

  • Track hours of work in backlog vs capacity to anticipate resource constrains and advice when more resources are needed as well as advice when there will be future available capacity to take more workload

  • Work closely with PMO teams in Europe to support document controller roles within the engineering team

  • Work very closely with China Nuclear Sales organization to technically support nuclear Chinese customers and be recognized by the customer as a trusted advisor. This position will require customer facing activities, supporting the nuclear China organization in front of the customer when chasing new orders and representing Emerson engineering when discussing face to face with customer status of project execution. This position will be the Emerson nuclear technical expert in front of China nuclear customers.

  • Plan and prioritize department objectives to insure cost, quality, resources, and product delivery are consistent with the business organization. Responsible for budget development and engineering spending.

  • Take part and develop EMERSON in China Nuclear Engineering Community and Associations

  • Work closely with rest of Wuqing Engineering departments, as well as with Human Resources, and Finance departments to set department objectives, attain customer satisfaction goals, citizenship goals, and people goals of the company.

  • Evaluate team performance and support the career development of members of the team as well as assure a positive environment of cooperation is maintained in the nuclear team. Employee satisfaction and retention is a key metric to track in the nuclear business. Develop Team-Leaders and structure within the Nuclear Engineering Team.

  • Evaluate and Standardize engineering tools

  • Develop an online requesting/tracking system to cooperate with the different engineering teams across different sites

  • Prepare written and verbal reports on project and department status for broad distribution.

Requirements
  • BSME/MSME or equivalent with 8 years of experience in engineering design.

  • Demonstrated people management experience, leadership, and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work within a complex matrix organization

  • Core emphasis in Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Dynamics, Controls, and Materials Science is valuable. Working knowledge of computer based analytical tools (e.g. CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics).
