Leadership Opportunity Available Now - Supervisory Physician - Redding/Yreka, CA
This is your opportunity for career growth and leadership development! The opportunity to serve as a Supervisory Physician at one of our Rural Health clinics includes working with a dynamic, collaborative, and engaged local leadership team to manage high quality & efficient health care on site.
At VA Northern California Health Care System, we stress the principles of servant leadership; the Supervisory Physician will benefit from training and gain experience in effective communication, data management, and process improvement for success on the front line. Managerial duties will include staff deployment & leave administration, human resources management & labor relations, professional practice review & evaluation, and planning & implementation around existing system imperatives. The Supervisory Physician will also have freedom and support to explore and develop or tailor new initiatives and projects to meet service performance metrics and/or health system strategic goals at their sites. The roll will afford regular mentorship and interaction with Service level & Executive Leadership, including daily huddling, recurring site and system wide meetings, and championship of one or more broad performance metrics. The Supervisory Physician will have a reduced clinical load commensurate with the size/complexity of the site and the number of staff reports. Additional reductions may be considered for additional skills and work in various areas of key interest such as whole-health deployment.
Eligible applicants must be able to provide comprehensive general primary care and comprehensive womens health care. Best Qualified candidates would have the following qualities:
- A history of successful prior leadership/management activities (or demonstrate informal leadership training, experience & skills) with the ability to inspire excellence, build teams, collaborate broadly, promote innovation, and be able to create & manage professional accountability on the front line.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as operational and facilitation skills are essential.
- Must have the ability to meet VA established performance measure goals and possess a thorough knowledge of the standards of the Veterans Health Administration and other accrediting bodies.

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen or PRA (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with [38 U.S.C. 7407(a)]; 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state, and 3) board prepared/certified in Internal or Family Medicine and have demonstrated leadership experience.
Benefits: 26 days paid vacation (1 day accrued each pay period upon employment); 13 days sick leave (1/2 day accrued each pay period upon employment, no cap); 10 paid Federal holidays/Competitive Salary/Malpractice protection with tail coverage covered by the Federal government/Annual Physician Performance Pay (Up to $15,000 possible)/CME- 1 week paid authorized absence to attend and after 1 year of employment $1,000 per year stipend toward CME if BC/No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
