Maintains the external grounds for Covenant HealthCare facilities by performing lawn maintenance and various landscaping duties, snow and ice removal, and general cleaning. Maintains all types of grounds keeping tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition by performing preventative maintenance, major and minor repairs with proper diagnosis and safety considerations. Completes work according to high standards of quality and workmanship maintaining proper paperwork with documentation. Work is completed properly with moderate to little direct supervision. The Groundskeeper demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.



Ensures good customer and employee relations by maintaining a courteous and professional relationship with all guests and coworkers.

Maintains the grounds for Covenant HealthCare facilities to include mowing, pruning, maintaining sprinkler systems, trees and shrubs, flower beds as well as other various landscaping activities.

Performs seasonal snow and ice removal duties by operating tractors, trucks, salt spreaders, snow blowers, shovels, etc.

During the snow/ice season, must be available in an on-call status to respond to changing weather conditions.

Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on grounds keeping tools and equipment including irrigations systems.

Must be proficient in utilizing computerized preventative maintenance system and maintaining required activities, thereof.

Completes a variety of project work as assigned and demonstrates initiative appropriately prioritizing projects and/or duties to ensure the highest possible customer satisfaction.

Project work may include planting and other landscape upgrades, power washing, furniture and equipment moves, demolition, and other projects as assigned.

May be required to facilitate a project from start to finish.

Following all safety procedures/methods, work is completed in a safe and efficient manner while the work environment is maintained in a clean and presentable order.

May be assigned to orient new employees.


Other information:


Required: High School diploma or G.E.D.

Demonstrated skill in reading/comprehension; 6 months to 1 year experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance; good driving record; good math skills; certification in herbicide application will be required within 12 months of hire.

Preferred: Experienced in light duty grounds equipment and maintenance of equipment.



Basic knowledge of maintenance and service of systems controls, computers, safety devices and procedures.

Moderate degree of mechanical skills in a lawn care and snow removal related background.

Good Driving Record

Excellent organizational skills

Able to comprehend and use multiple software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, and written instructions along with P.C. based interface devices.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency in reading i.e. manuals, work orders, P.M.s, etc. and communicate (verbal and written) in a concise and accurate manner.

Ability to perform diagnostic functions of various grounds keeping equipment.



Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
