The Communication Specialist is an integral part of the Planning and Business Development team with the primary responsibility of developing and executing strategic communication initiatives to inform employees and the community. The Communications Specialist will interface with administrative and clinical leaders, physicians and professional staff to initiate, develop, and create effective communications tactics within budget and timelines. Written and visual content will be shared using a variety of mediums and platforms. The Communication Specialist work within and contribute to a collaborative team approach.

Coordinate with leadership and departmental teams to research, develop, advise and execute on communication strategies, tactics and goals for initiatives with a primary focus on internal communications.
Oversee day-to-day internal communications- writing and publishing, announcements, newsletters, etc. with any accompanying collateral needed.
Manage and meet all associated deadlines and ensures high quality production of communications.
Maintain a high level of visibility throughout the organization and remains accessible to facilitate the creation of stories and articles of interest to internal and external audiences.
Coordinate with the Planning and Business Development team to collaboratively produce multimedia content (video, photographs, intranet, etc.).
Identify and develop a close working relationship with key communications contacts including Human Resources, Patient Safety & Quality, and more.
Serve as a writing and communication resource for the organization, offering consistent branding and tone.
Develop and track project specific budgets.
Set up methods to measure effectiveness of communication efforts through tracking and analyzing of key performance metrics.
Work collaboratively to direct the production of special events for staff and prepare and/or presentation of special projects.
Coordinate and schedule interviews and photoshoots as needed.
Ensure corporate branding is upheld in all projects with the support of the Planning and Business Development team.
Produce and design email blasts and other digital content for publication.
Work in conjunction with the team to maintain positive relations with representatives of the news media.
Setting up interviews as appropriate in a timely and prompt manner.
Supports “Call Covenant First” media relations program and assists with 24/7 call coverage to support media requests.
Participate in continuous training as a Public Information Officer in support of Emergency Preparedness.
Support the writing and distribution of press releases and information to news media and key audiences.
Maintains a solid understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines, ensuring all communications comply with requirements.
Participate in professional activities and maintain professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends/changes in the field.
Provide support of other departmental initiatives as directed, including but not limited to marketing, public relations, and contributing content to social media and digital communications channels.
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field (extensive experience of 8 years or more in a related field may be considered as an alternate to the degree requirement).
A minimum of three to five years work-related and/or demonstrated skill and artistic ability required.
Healthcare or corporate communication experience is helpful.
Ability to write engaging content, tailored to a variety of audiences and platforms.
A keen eye, and knowledge of layout and design fundamentals preferred.
General photographic skills a plus.
Knowledge of content generation, email platforms, and basics of utilizing a web content management system.
Demonstrate accountability, ability to work under minimal supervision, make independent decisions and provide consultative advice.
Must be personable and motivated, with excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills. Strong writing and editing skills; detail oriented.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and handle confidential/sensitive issues and information.
Ability to manage projects within budgets and deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks at one time.
