This role: 

Researches and develops bio-analytical methods for the assessment of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity of bio-pharmaceutical compounds in biological matrices using a fundamental knowledge of ELISA based immunochemistry principles applied to a variety of technology platforms such as Gyros™, Simoa™, Luminex™ and MesoScale Discovery™, and in a manner consistent with current regulatory expectations for bioanalysis.  The method development staff scientist supports multi-disciplined studies, generates results, solve problems, communicates with clients and internal stakeholders and interprets data of a scientific nature.

 

  • Authority on a variety of analytical ligand binding techniques and methodologies, such as ELISA, ECL, and cell-based assays.
  • Implements new techniques and instrumentation to improve bioanalytical operations.
  • Accepts leadership role in troubleshooting and solving challenging bioanalytical problems.
  • Undertakes independent development of analytical methods for validation assays using a variety of analytical techniques for multidisciplined studies to generate results, solve problems, and interpret data of a scientific nature.
  • Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements in bioanalytical and ligand binding studies and helps to develop scientific approaches.
  • Responds to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties.
  • Independently sets up, maintains, operates and performs routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment, including problem identification and resolution.
  • Manages and drives the evaluation of new equipment.
  • Promotes a cohesive team environment.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and reviews the scientific performance of assays.
  • Assists with the generation of scientific papers, which are published in peer reviewed journals, and presented in scientific meetings.
  • Performs scientific mentoring activities (e.g.; training study specific techniques, assisting with complex analytical work/problem solving, and presenting technique seminars).
  • Contributes to long-range planning and technical policies of the department.
  • Effectively interacts with internal/external clients, as needed.*

Education/Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in science plus at least 5-7 years of previous laboratory experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), presentation and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting ligand binding assays
  • Familiar with the use of standard laboratory equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge of analytical instrumentation (e.g., plate readers, MSD).
  • Skilled in performing scientific presentation and preparing scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of laboratory automation software, system software, and Microsoft applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
