Hours: Anticipated pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, weekend coverage needs TBD.
As the Director of Pharmacy with Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) at the new Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake, your initial responsibilities will include setting up a brand new pharmacy in a brand new hospital! Specific tasks include obtaining pharmacy licenses, obtaining accreditation with The Joint Commission, ordering and setting up the pharmacy organization, workflow, and inventory, in addition to formulary management. You will be operating the pharmacy according to hospital policies, procedures, standards of practice of the profession, and all state and federal laws. Other duties include recommending innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carrying out mutually agreed upon programs.
You will be staffing and overseeing all pharmacy operations, including planning, organizing and controlling activities as the facility grows after opening. You will fill orders with accuracy and maintain security of the pharmacy and controlled substances. In this role, you will begin as the sole employee in the pharmacy and as census increases, expand the staff to include additional pharmacists and pharmacy technicians as needed. You will also be on call via telephone when the pharmacy is closed. As a CPS-employed Director of Pharmacy you will have a full support team available to you including experts in pharmacy operations, clinical administration and regulatory compliance.
About the Facility: The Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake will be a 92-bed, Joint Commission accredited hospital that provides inpatient behavioral and mental health services for adult and geriatric patients. The pharmacy is anticipated to be open Monday-Friday from approximately 8:00am-5:00pm, with weekend and after-hours pharmacy services TBD. The pharmacy will utilize automated dispensing machines and an electronic pharmacy information system. The pharmacy will utilize automated dispensing machines and an electronic pharmacy information system to start, with plans to eventually expand to an electronic medical record. Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS.
- Pharmacy Degree - Bachelor's or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Texas Pharmacist license that is currently active and in good standing
- At least 1 year of recent pharmacy management/supervisory experience.
- At least 3 years of recent hospital pharmacist experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility.
- Demonstrated teaching, relevant professional publications and involvement with professional organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, respond to client concerns and work cooperatively with other members of the hospital and pharmacy staff.
