SENIOR INVESTMENT STRATEGIST WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Senior Investment Strategist is a member of the investment research team reporting to the Chief Investment Officer with a focus on supporting firm-wide asset allocation and investment strategy and communicating the firm's investment best-thinking to internal and external audiences. This position works with the CNR Investment Strategy Committee to formulate views on the economic and financial market outlook and translate those views into portfolio construction for clients. The Senior Investment Strategist leads the effort to generate materials to communicate those views, including presentations, white papers, and articles, as well as internal communications, and presents these materials and views through in a variety of forums. The Senior Investment Strategist's role is to educate our client facing professionals, clients and prospects on key asset allocation topics as well as the individual strategies the firm offers on a regular and consistent basis both verbally and in written materials. The position requires extensive collaboration with several internal teams, including several areas within the investment research team, as well as externally facing Senior Investment Consultants and Portfolio Managers. What you will do
- Conduct research and analysis of the economic and financial market outlook to support firm-wide investment strategy and asset allocation using quantitative wealth management models (portfolio optimization, rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, monte carlo simulations, trading algorithms, financial health scores, and probability assessment models used in developing a wealth management platform), and developing prototypes to hand over to developers.
- Develop thought leadership and materials to articulate CNR's investment and economic views.
- Partner with the investment teams on portfolio analysis and views for individual strategies.
- Coach, support, train and educate Senior Investment Consultants, Portfolio Managers, Private Investment Consultants, Bankers, and Advisors on the rationale for each of CNR's asset class investments category.
- Partner with the investment teams on portfolio analysis and views for individual strategies.
- Educate our client-facing professionals and clients on key economic, financial-market and portfolio strategy topics and to contribute to investment decisions.
- Communicate to clients and advisors performance across asset allocation and individual strategies.
- Develop written and verbal narratives relating to asset allocation decisions from the Investment Committee and consistently present to all groups.
- Understand and discuss investment offerings and explain within the context of portfolios
- Serve as a primary spokesman for the CNR investment team to internal and external audiences. Provide responses to client-driven questions on economics, markets and portfolios.
- Regularly present to advisors, clients and prospective clients through National and Regional webinars, in-person events, and one-on-one meetings
- Support distribution teams with thorough, detailed, and timely responses. Involvement in training efforts.
- Support the development of the CNR investment platform through a variety of special projects
- Work closely with Senior Investment Consultants, Portfolio Managers, Private Investment Consultants, and Bankers for all new client opportunities and existing clients that have less than $10 million in total account AUMs.
- Travel often to support these initiatives.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant investment/wealth management with an emphasis on analytical roles focused on financial market research, asset allocation or portfolio strategy.
Skills and Knowledge
- CFA - Charter Financial Analyst MBA is desired.
- At least 6 to 8 years' experience in investment/wealth management with an emphasis on analytical roles focused on financial market research, asset allocation or portfolio strategy.
- Investment acumen (particularly macro, asset allocation and portfolio construction).
- Knowledge of investment strategies across asset classes, including equities, fixed income and alternative investments
- Effective and persuasive oral, written and presentation skills: embody humility in interactions and gravitas in presence; ability to simply and effectively describe complex ideas to different audiences.
- Strong writing abilities; tremendous attention to detail in all forms of communication.
- Ability to contribute in practically any setting (investment team meetings, client meetings, leadership meetings).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and able to think strategically and creatively and link broad ideas with detailed execution.
- Relationship building; understand the interconnectivity of an organization and work collaboratively to achieve success with a strong client service and sales orientation. Skilled at establishing and building effective working relationships with key clients, client firms, consultants, vendor partners and industry groups/influencers.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- A genuine team player that believes in the power of collaborative work and develops relationships with co-workers in a collegial and respectful manner.
