Job Description:

In consultation with the Associate Director of Marketing Communications, this position is responsible for effectively developing and executing marketing strategy for new and existing programs at the Brown University School of Professional Studies (SPS). The Marketing Manager is cross-trained to provide support and continuity for marketing activities, with a particular emphasis on data analytics, reporting and technical/CRM support. This position plans, schedules, and executes multi-channel marketing activities and delivers effective marketing communications aimed at building program awareness, generating program applications and increasing enrollment. The Marketing Manager tracks and reports inbound response, inquiry flow and other marketing statistics.

Major Responsibilities:

Marketing program management: planning, execution, data and reporting

  • Plan, execute, and analyze multi-channel marketing strategy and recruitment activities for the portfolio of programs at the Brown University School of Professional Studies (SPS). 
  • Lead the design, traffic flow, production, and delivery of copy for advertising campaigns (print & digital)

  • Deliver clear, compelling and effectively targeted communications that maintain Brown's quality and brand standards

  • Track and report campaign results and provide accurate metrics of marketing campaign activities in support of program development, enrollment growth, and marketing strategy development

  • Create and maintain a comprehensive marketing metric data dashboard; Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and monthly marketing meeting with program directors

  • Present insights and recommend campaign optimizations; track progress towards enrollment management goals and campaign KPIs

  • Lead discussion and decisions on new outreach strategies – drawing on market trends, customer insights, sales analysis, and monitoring of needs cited by program directors, SPS staff and other internal or external partners

  • Develop strategies and content in alignment with Brown's policies and protocols relating to visual identity, image use, Web hosting, accessibility, and vendor hiring. Follow established Brown University identity and messaging priorities, as stewarded by Brown's Office of University Communications. 

Website support, CRM management and campaigns

  • Maintain and update content on the website; Assist with identifying and executing other technical optimizations and enhancements and support SEO efforts (in-house and outsourced)

  • Manage marketing-related CRM activities and campaign, such as email drip, deliver mailings, audience segmentation, etc.; Support the enrollment management team with data dashboards, queries, etc.

  • Oversee the customer journey; Monitor campaign performance and provide data-driven recommendations

Supporting other marketing efforts, outreach, etc.

  • Coordinate and executive all aspects of program information sessions, including creating registration pages, promoting via paid tactics and messagees to CRM, working with program directors on content and slides, testing and troubleshooting the day-of the event, sending followup communications and reports

  • Assist with content and organic social media efforts 

  • Consult with colleagues to promote efficiency, streamline operations, and build success for all SPS programs

  • Help to build effective and efficient best practices that support the Brown brand across business areas

  • Support other marketing and recruitment events, activities, or special projects as needed

Size and Scope of Position:

  • School of Professional Studies Marketing Budget

  • Provide multi-channel marketing support for 5+ professional programs and will expand to support portfolio of residential master's programs 

  • Maintain professional.brown.edu website that receives around 500,000 pageviews/year

  • Communicate and engage with a growing audience of 19,000+ stakeholders on social media

  • Manage CRM and communicate with a growing email audience of 20,000+ stakeholders

Job Qualifications 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent of education and experience required 

  • Experience working with Slate or other CRM systems preferred 

  • Experience working in an academic setting preferred

  • Expert knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); Intermediate knowledge of Web and database technology, HTML and web design standards

  • Experience with design programs (Adobe Creative Suite such as InDesign, Photoshop) preferred

  • Outstanding organizational, project management and production skills involving multiple, simultaneous projects

  • Solutions-focused mindset and ability to turn data into actionable insights

  • Current knowledge of print, design, media and advertising as well as technology and new media best practices and willingness to learn new systems.

  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure and troubleshoot in a high-volume, changing work environment 

  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively as a member of a team 

  • Specific experience launching and marketing new products to adult markets. Education experience preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
