POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for the strategic design and development of a robust and diverse Volunteer Services program at BCH.   In addition to the day-to-day management of the Volunteer Services department, the Volunteer Services Manager works collaboratively with BCH Foundation Director to deliver top of class volunteer recruitment and support services to BCH health care system staff.  The Volunteer Services Manager assures quality and appropriateness of services provided and collaborates with BCH directors and senior management to accomplish overall BCH mission, goals and objectives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

  1. College degree preferred.
  1. Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) may be considered in lieu of college degree.

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

  1. Current Colorado driver's license

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  1. Uncanny ability to motivate and engage people of varying ages and diverse backgrounds to engage in volunteerism at BCH.
  1. Ability to orient and train staff and volunteers through in-person and remote teaching methods.
  1. Ability to relate professionally and appropriately to persons of varying ages, backgrounds and abilities.
  1. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing.
  1. Ability to develop opportunities to attract new volunteers through internships, shadowing opportunities, education and other avenues.
  1. Administrative management experience including but not limited to; strategic planning, budgeting, performance evaluations, hands-on management of staff and volunteers.
  1. Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Volunteer Services.
  1. Excellent computer skills and experience with Volgistics or other volunteer management software required. Solid proficiency with entire MS Office suite and Outlook required.

Experience

  1. Administrative management experience including but not limited to; strategic planning, budgeting, performance evaluations, hands-on management of staff and volunteers.
  1. 2-5 years of experience in volunteer coordination/engagement in a nonprofit setting, health care experience is a plus.
  1.  Applicants with relevant hospitality experience with a strong focus on engagement and service excellence may be considered in lieu of volunteer coordination.
  2. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Volunteer Services in a health care setting.
  3. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant volunteer recruitment experience in a nonprofit setting.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  1. This position requires mobility and will require physical movement throughout the day. 
  2. An ability to push small service carts, and/or pushing individuals in wheelchairs for short distances would not be uncommon. 
  3. Must have the ability to push or lift items up to 20 lbs. several times per day.
