    Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation.  Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
     

    The Patient Safety, Clinical Quality and Infection Prevention Department, through collaboration and partnership with others, focuses on ensuring safe, effective, evidence-based health care to all of our patients. Patient safety is our top priority with the clinical quality and infection prevention arms enabling this goal. Our Clinical Quality efforts are evidence based and derived from internal and external authorities such as CMS, TJC, NQF, AHRQ and the BJC Center for Clinical Excellence. We strive to incorporate these evidence-based standards into everyday clinical practice. Ongoing monitoring of clinical measures is performed to ensure compliance and to identify opportunities for improvement.


    Overview

    Role Purpose

    The Data Quality Analyst supports the collection, reporting and analysis of patient safety data in order to improve quality of care, patient safety, service and related healthcare outcomes. This position collaborates with stakeholders on the development of forms to capture customer feedback, as well as tools to collect and analyze surveillance data. The Data Quality Analyst monitors and evaluates data trends, and make recommendations to improve patient safety practices and processes. This position will also assist in the planning, development and execution of integrated patient safety initiatives and projects across the BJC network.

    Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and improve surveillance programs for patient safety, customer feedback and reporting platforms.
  • Partners with teams to develop processes, define indicators & measurements, determine data sources, data warehousing and data reporting for patient safety events.
  • Participates in requirements gathering, documentation, analysis, design and implementation of various system wide initiatives; assists in using SQL and other data querying, manipulation and presentation tools to collect, manage and present data needed to support business operations.
  • Assists in managing product and user support activities around vendor-based or internally developed systems; assists in production of presentations, spreadsheets and other documents; analyzes data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitates system-wide governance teams designed to guide the development, design and improvement of reporting tools and surveillance platforms.
