The Urgent Care (UC) Medical Director serves as the collaborating/supervising physician to advanced practice clinicians (APC), leads clinical standards for UC services, and provides direct patient care as needed. This position will be responsible for: clinical oversight, quality, compliance, and performance of APCs in the region. The medical director role requires leadership across regions to identify opportunities to build new relationships, and leveraging existing ones, to better serve our patients and to assure quality patient care is delivered consistently in UC Clinics.

Physician Duties: Medical management of patients across the age span. Provide care that is consistent with the BSMH Mission. Meet or exceed UC key performance metrics.


Collaborating and supervising duties: Serve as the collaborating physician for UC APCs. Provide onsite and virtual clinical support. Participate in monthly provider meetings and chart reviews for APCs. Compliance with standards as required by state and local regulatory bodies. Responsible for UC's physician and APCs development through chart review, staff/provider meeting, quality improvement process, and other forums.


Medical Director Duties: Partner with clinical operations management team to pursue quality patient care and to implement performance improvement strategies and quality protocols. Incorporates demonstrated leading clinical and operational practices into facility operations. Demonstrate understanding of corporate and site objectives and national standards pertaining to quality, patient experience, patient safety, medical management, and professional liability costs. Ensure the attainment of clinical operations commitment and quality metrics through collaboration with various stakeholders.


Committee Participation: Committees as assigned, which may include Clinical Informatics, Quality & Patient Safety, Credentialing, and other task forces as needed. Foster relationships in the community and with area medical specialists; represent Urgent Care on local/community committees as appropriate. Strive to maintain the image of BSMH UC as a vital health resource in the communities.


Development: Attend to professional development through continuing management education; Maintain clinical relevance through continuing medical education.


Culture: Perform all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects the organization Mission and the service vision. Collaborate with clinical operations leadership to build a “one team” culture for UC across the regions.
