Major Responsibilities

Position Overview: Responsible for analyzing well plug and abandonment remedial actions, necessary equipment and personnel solutions.  The duties of the P&A Equipment Operator include the ability to read, understand, and independently implement the Customer's project procedures.  The individual in this job role must have technical expertise that will enable them to make decisions, when the customer is unavailable, to change procedures as the well conditions change.  The P&A Equipment Operator expertly Operates a Coil Tubing unit, cement Pump Truck, Bulk truck and vacuum truck.  Employee must also be able transfer cement from bulk storage to bulk truck for shipping.  Must be able to lead crew on site with little direction from supervisor.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Reports to: Field Service Supervisor, Area Manager

Directs Reports: None

Major duties:

  • Operate company vehicle on a daily basis transporting to and from jobs
  • Ensure proper delivery of equipment
  • Pull proper tools needed for each job and determining need and use of equipment on job site
  • Have the knowledge required to calculate displacement, volumes, weights, pipe tallies and knowledge of pump capabilities, torque ratings for power swivels, bit sizes, weights of tubulars used and truck ratings allowed by Local, State, Company and Federal regulations
  • Must have applicable knowledge of DOT rules and regulations as required for the position
  • Operate downhole tools from start to finish on a job
  • Create and organize proper paperwork including tickets for jobs, submit proper paperwork upon completion of each job in a timely manner
  • Transport dirty tools and motors to designated areas following job completion
  • Assist in job action planning with customer on job site
  • Communicate with internal and external customers while maintain open line of communication with managerial personnel during and after job completion
  • Work effectively with other field hands to ensure quality operations at all times
  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the immediate supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

        Required:

  • Must have a Commercial Driver's License
  • Must have knowledge of oilfield and related equipment associated with analyzing well plug and abandonment remedial actions using various Cement operations
  • Must have applicable knowledge of DOT rules and regulations as required for the position
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills to efficiently handle a variety of daily tasks while maintaining flexibility to meet shifting priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal
  • Good problem assessment and problem solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and position vehicle equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to sit long periods while driving
  • Able to stand long periods while cargo is being loaded and unloaded

Typical working conditions and hazards:

  • Work is performed in all weather conditions
  • Able to perform duties with protective equipment, H2S respirator where required
  • Potential hazards include working near or with heavy tools and moving equipment
  • Potential exposure to loud noises, airborne toxins, solvents, flammable atmospheres and industrial chemicals
