Shipping / Receiving Specialist – Southfield, Michigan (2100554)

 

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team.  In this role, you will work closely with technical, field sales, accounts, and other stakeholders to ensure that materials are received, and dry goods, hazardous/nonhazardous chemicals are shipped in a timely manner, meet quality standards, D.O.T. and IATA regulations.  To ensure that all shipments are managed in a cost-effective manner that meets customer deadlines.

 

Relying on your knowledge of proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods, you will create delivery / shipment & generate goods receipts for inbound materials.  Additionally, you will actively monitor Inbound and Outbound Materials.

Demonstrating your knowledge of safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials, you will create Warehouse Management Labels for packaged raw material where necessary.

Applying your technical knowledge, you will be responsible for meeting all DOT and IATA regulatory requirements

Your strong computer skills, including proficiency in SAP, will be essential as you complete Goods Receipt in SAP for Inbound packaged materials and complete Goods receipt in SAP for outbound samples and packaged materials.

Leveraging your training, you will support implementation of Lean practices in the warehouse area

Your unwavering commitment to workplace safety will be evident as you identify and support safety improvements within logistics warehouse operations.

Maintain department KPIs for inbound/outbound materials and samples

Maintaining hazardous waste requirements – inspections, RCRA knowledge, staging drums, preparing for waste pickups.

The position will periodically support chemical material fulfillment and inventory offs as a back up

 

Occasional lifting, bending, and twisting of various range and motion requiring physical exertion when handling material, equipment.

Ability to lift 50 pounds

Ability to stand and walk in work environment

Frequent use of stairs required.

Occasional use of respiratory protection including air purifying, air supplied, and self-contained air supplied respirators.

Requirements

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For In You…

 

Basic Qualifications: 

 

High School Diploma or GED required.

3 years of experience in shipping / receiving operations.

3 year of experience working with DOT and IATA regulation requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

SAP experience in goods receipts preferred.

Forklift experience preferred.

Basic computer skills (email, internet research, spreadsheets) preferred.

RCRA knowledge preferred.
