Summary and Qualifications:

Ensure the success of the practice by overseeing and managing signature industry-facing programs and events that impact our reputation within the veterinary profession, showcasing Banfield as an employer of choice.

Identify, create, and implement opportunistic campaigns, thought leadership platforms and events that help further our reputation among Banfield Associates and the broader veterinary profession.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
  • Develop relationship with industry executives. Lead outreach and communications as related to the veterinary profession/industry with respective stakeholders, including national associations and industry partners. 
  • Negotiate and execute industry sponsorships, ensuring mutual partnerships are leveraged internally and externally to further thought leadership and employer of choice aspirations. Partner with stakeholders to act as consult for industry affiliate partnerships. 
  • Lead cross-functional national conferences program and manage onsite events/sponsorships/stakeholder meetings in conjunction with these events. 
  • Manage industry events, including the annual Pet Healthcare Industry Summit. Role includes all aspects of execution of event, including development of agenda/vision for event, content, working with speakers, managing vendors.
  • Employ hospital centric communications, responding to Associates quickly to answer program questions and connect them with resources.
  • Develop and facilitate Banfield speaking opportunities within the industry/profession.
  • Serve as industry relations subject matter resource for cross functional working groups and initiatives (i.e. Inclusion & Diversity; Healthy Mind; Student Debt Relief Pilot Program; TA initiatives).
  • Encourage and facilitate associate involvement in the broader profession (including leadership positions) and share engagement internally and externally. 
  • Lead events that bridge the gap between industry and community events, including quarterly preventive care clinics.
  • Manage shelter animal veterinary discount programs and shelter services.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. 
  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Affairs is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Eight years of communications, public relations, industry relations, or healthcare (either human healthcare or veterinary) experience is required.
  • Prior experience with project management is required.
  • Advanced relationship building skills with excellent communication/writing skills is required.
  • Prior experience working for a multi-unit, national business is preferred.
