Job Definition SCOPE OF POSITION
Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates the Nursing Service Department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long term care facility. Develops, maintains, and periodically updates written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department and defines the nursing service objectives and philosophies. Assumes the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the facility in the absence of the facility Administrator. Meets the budgeted target staffing needs of the Nursing Service Department necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residents. Makes daily rounds of the Nursing Service Department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. In collaboration with the facility Administrator and health system clinical education develops and revises the nursing assistant training curriculum for the facility; submits to state agency for approval as required. Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as directed. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to assure that daily activities can be performed without interruption.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program required. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing required, MSN preferred.
BLS Certification is required.
Professional nursing certification desired.
