The Electronic Combat Systems Sustainment Center is seeking an Engineer for a hands-on role troubleshooting complex product, supporting highly integrated test stands and guiding test technicians in an Operations environment. The Sustainment Center supports new build, field returns, upgrades and other projects for our end customers. This is a very unique opportunity for the right candidate to work with the latest technology and newest product in a supportive team environment, while also troubleshooting some of the most challenging problems on product that has already been built, integrated and delivered to the warfighter.

As a core member of the ECS Sustainment Technical Operations Team, this key individual will have opportunities to work across multiple Programs supporting a number of BAE System's end customers.

This person will play a pivotal role in transitioning test and troubleshooting capability and core knowledge from operations and engineering leads across factories to the ECS Sustainment Center as new programs and products are introduced. Embedding with subject matter experts, they will grow their own software, hardware and product expertise, and then build capability across the technician base within the factory. Responsibilities include:

  • Drive to become the technical subject matter expert within Sustainment for AEWS family product currently in the factory, and product that will transition Test and debug activity in phases over the next two years. This will include new test stands and capabilities currently being developed as well as existing test stands.
  • Actively engage in creating a culture of continuous knowledge transfer – developing debug instruction guides, mentoring technicians and partnering with Factory Leadership to advance skill level in technician base.
  • Optimize test and troubleshooting flow within the factory
  • Work collaboratively with various Program Software, Hardware and Test Teams to develop and execute a Transition Roadmap, resolve technical and process issues and better support the end customer.
  • Drive actions to reduce test equipment-related failures; proactively develop plans to establish and maintain necessary test infrastructure to ensure that testing can be performed in a sustainable and reliable manner.
  • May assist with or manage Classified IS for new programs.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

  • Demonstrated success coaching and mentoring technicians, improving their technical skill sets and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to successfully interface with technical and non-technical personnel at all levels and across functions
  • At least 2 years relevant experience troubleshooting and debugging complex electronic assemblies
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment.
