BAE Systems is offering an exciting opportunity to support an important and dynamic Department of Justice customer as a Network Engineer- Mid working with a team of diverse and highly capable IT professionals. The Network Engineer- Mid: Installs and maintains complex networks that link numerous computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across widely dispersed geographic areas. Evaluates hardware and software suitable for large, complex networks. Tests and implements interface programs. Develops security procedures. Manages network performance. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to ensure minimal disruption of mission-critical applications. Maintains fault-tolerant systems and manages systems backups. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Areas of support also include a variety of hardware and networking hardwired and wireless. Duties require strong technical aptitude and good analytical skills in diagnosing and resolving customer issues and requests. Installation of patches and security patches on equipment and operating systems. Duties also include documenting work completed and preparation of help documentation. Candidate must have excellent customer service skills and work well in a team environment. The Mid-Level Network Engineer shall perform the following duties which may change due to operational needs or requirements:
The Network Engineer- Mid will perform the following duties:
- Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques
- Installs and configures applications software and related hardware
- May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
- Participates in special projects as required
- Supports engineering studies and reports
- Performs data collection and preparation necessary to support engineering studies
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
The successful candidate for the Network Engineer- Mid position will meet the following education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Information Security, Computer Security, and/or Network Administration from an accredited university/college with five (5) years' experience;
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related scientific/technical field with two (2) years' experience;
- PhD in Computer Science or related discipline with one (1) years' experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Relevant Experience: Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of relevant experience with virtualization technologies and infrastructure automation tools. Candidate will be able to design, deploy and maintain cloud environments. Candidate will have experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and experience deploying Windows Servers, TCP/IP Network Design, Network Routing protocols, advanced virtual networking technologies, VMWare, KVM and Network Operating Systems of Cisco, JUNOS, Juniper and Rasberry Pl
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with large scale enterprise and/or cloud based systems in preferred.
