OFFERING A $10k SIGN ON BONUS: BAE System is in search of a Lead Software Developer to lead one of our most complex programs. The candidate will support a program valued over $350M giving you the opportunity to lead one of BAE's cornerstone cyber integration projects. We are looking for leader with exceptional communication, and interpersonal skills. The Lead Software Developer is a member of the Event Engineering Team (EET) and supports the Event Designer and Event Lead. The Lead Software Developer is responsible for leading the software development efforts for event environment design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a core technical advisor to the program senior leadership team

  • Develops software and tools which will:

    • Create a realistic joint mission environment

    • Provide realistic cyber threat analysis and risk identification

    • Continuously improve the process of cyber range activities

    • Aid and inform the development, test, and evaluation capabilities of the cyber range complex

  • Provides technical leadership for day-to-day operation.

  • Responsible for providing planning, direction and coordination of all software development efforts. Designs, develops and oversees software and tools, including complex systems and systems design activities.

  • Ensures conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system.

  • Supports design reviews; Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies and develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.

  • This position is responsible for technical performance, software and tool development costs, and schedules.

  • Advises management and customers on operations and research studies and applications, including technology assessments, schedule and budget development to complete projects and deliver results to customers.

  • Performs software tool development functions by doing one or more of the following:

    • Develop, allocate and manage complex system, hardware and software requirements.

    • Develop complex, safety critical, embedded control system designs and architectures.

    • Define hardware, software and programmable logic interfaces and functionality.

    • Prepare documentation for system designs and architectures in accordance with established systems development processes and procedures.

    • Perform system/product integration.

    • Verify and validate moderately complex aspects of systems designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.

    • Leverages agile software development techniques in a team environment

    • Produce technical documents, specifications and standards.

  • Work as part of a cross-discipline team executing technical tasks to cost and schedule targets.

  • Prepare and deliver basic customer and technical presentations. Candidates should possess strong communication skills both written and oral. Candidates should also demonstrate sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in computer science, or a focus in computer and information sciences, information technology, management information systems, or a related discipline with corresponding experience and demonstrated mastery of relevant computer science and software engineering topics.

  • 2+ years of experience with cyber testing or training to include experience with defensive and offensive cyber tools and TTPs.

  • 2+ years of systems administration experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with software development and software engineering

  • Expert knowledge of: software development to include agile software development practices; programming languages; operating systems; networks; enterprise and consumer IT concepts, architectures, and systems (compute, network, storage).

  • Expert knowledge of PowerShell, bash scripting, python scripting, and C/C++ development.

  • Experience developing web applications using web development frameworks such as Django, Ruby on Rails, Flask, Angular, Bottle, jQuery, Meteor

  • Knowledge of one or more continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure configuration automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following MySQL, MariaDB, mongoDB, Postgres SQL, or no SQL
  • Knowledge of Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, TFTP, DNS,FTP.
  • Must have Top Secret Clearance with eligibility to obtain SCI.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master's degree with a focus in computer science, cyber security, information assurance, software engineering, or cyber operations.

  • 5+ years' experience developing cyber range tools, including deployment automation, configuration automation, monitoring, and traffic generation.

  • Expert knowledge of defensive and offensive cyber tools and TTP.

  • Experience working with platform development, end-users (operators), and system developers.

  • Extensive and varied experience designing realistic terrain, including global gray and target environments.

  • Expert knowledge of Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, TFTP, DNS, FTP.

  • Experience developing user simulators, which generate network and application traffic to simulate realistic users.

  • Intermediate knowledge of software defined networking and network function virtualization (NFV).

  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMWare, Docker, HyperV, Xen, Kubernetes, etc.

  • Expertise in building out complex enterprise infrastructures using various operating systems and services (e.g., AD, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, VPN, email, databases, IIS, Apache, etc.)



Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $122870 - $208890

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
