The selected candidate will conduct pre-installation checkouts (PICO) on board United States Navy Ships in support of upcoming ship alterations. Will perform shipboard installations as an alteration installation team lead (AIT) following TS9090.310 procedures for installing and testing and will provide training to shipboard IFF system technicians with NEC 1571/1572 or equivalent on the AN/UPX-29(V) system upgrades. Will also participate in acceptance tests and other higher level combat systems test events both at land based test sites and at sea and will perform platform certifications to include CONUS and OCONUS sites. The candidate will provide technical services in support of the AN/UPX-29(V) Interrogator System during grooms, Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT), and Material Condition Assessments (MCA) and will interface directly with ships force department heads to provide high level status updates and recommend corrective action. The candidate will serve as a technical liaison and provide technical support to the United States Navy for the AN/UPX-29(V and will review engineering change proposals (ECP) for accuracy and applicability.
The candidate must be willing to travel 20% - 30% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events. Will be required to work on-board ships to accomplish assignments. Will exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna maintenance and lifting/carrying heavy objects. May be required to work overtime hours or weekends to support installations and test events. Will occasionally be required to work in disagreeable environmental conditions. Assigned work will include assisting other technicians and working on projects involving Combat Identification equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA systems. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite Government customers.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County on the Patuxent River Naval Air Stations, Saint Inigoes annex. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of experience working with United States Navy combat systems
NEC 1571(V06B) or equivalent AN/UPX-29(V)
NEC 1572(V07B) or equivalent AIMS system Technician
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Ability to climb aloft for antenna maintenance and lift/carry heavy objects
