Job Description
The F-35 Support Equipment (SE) Maintenance Trainer/Courseware Developer (CWD) Subject Matter Expert (SME) (a.k.a. SE SME) is located at Eglin AFB, Florida and the individual will work in an Integrated Product Team arrangement with employees of other companies supporting all aspects of F-35 Support Equipment training for various customers. They will work closely with Tier 1 partners, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office (JSFPO) US, and non-US customers. The selected candidate will work as the F-35 SE SME by conducting academic & hands-on training while authoring/revising courseware.

The SE SME as a CW developer will support technical content reviews of applicable courseware for courseware development and revisions. Their in-depth knowledge of Joint Technical Data (JTD), service publications, and SE systems will allow them to provide accurate and consistent lesson content to the F-35 Enterprise. The SE SME as an instructor will maintain a constant command of syllabus flow and lesson content changes that supports the F-35 Enterprise SE contractual obligations and changing customer needs in accordance with formal course standards.

The selected candidate must have knowledge in the operation of 4th and 5th generation fighter SE equipment with 3-5 years in fighter SE systems maintenance experience. Must have experience in academic and OJT training on 4th and 5th generation military fighter aircraft SE systems.
Must have an Active Secret security clearance

The SE SME has the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality academic instruction that covers applicable formal course syllabi and instructional guide requirements
  • Conduct quality US and Non-US military maintenance training using training devices, aircraft tooling, simulators, and/or trainers/mock-ups according to syllabi and course guide requirements/published standards
  • Maintain assigned SE systems expertise
  • Provide laboratory demonstrations in keeping with government and contractor requirements
  • Monitor computer based training and conduct testing and assessments on students in accordance with the F-35 Training System Strategy
  • Prepare classrooms, briefing rooms and labs for instruction before the scheduled lesson or training device/simulator event, leaving the equipment in working order and identifying any restrictions on usability of these areas.
  • Clean-up classrooms, briefing room and labs, returning them to the pre-class or pre-training event condition
  • Evaluate and record student academic training, training device/simulator performance, and verbally debrief all errors committed by students in accordance with applicable syllabi, correcting to 100%
  • Conduct remedial student academic or training device/simulator instruction when required
  • Coordinate recommended corrective action(s) and remedial training with the lead instructor and pertinent supervisors
  • Monitor courseware currency in applicable areas of responsibility and submit recommended revisions to the lead instructor/pertinent supervisors
  • Support lesson plan and course guide revision efforts, de-conflicting of schedules, and training system feedback/problem reporting
  • Support training device scenario design and programming efforts when directed
  • Review test item analysis and critique summaries to identify instruction and testing that requires revision and make recommended revisions
  • Coordinate lesson revision inputs with the lead instructor, other contract instructors, and Courseware subcontractors, if required
  • Meet suspense dates for applicable newly delivered lessons and lesson revisions
  • Be available for student assistance, questions, and “sandbag” training events when not scheduled for formal academic instruction, training device instruction, or courseware development and revisions
  • Proactively develop processes, procedures, programs and/or tools to improve training, develop content and meet changing customer demands
Considered candidates must be capable of working first (1st) or second (2nd) shift(s) dependent on customer needs.

Required Skills and Education

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Proven experience conducting classroom and practical instruction to provide technical knowledge for the safe maintenance, repair, and operation of support equipment, support equipment sub-systems, related tooling/test-sets, and equipment according to established procedures

Competent understanding of the Instructional Systems Design/ADDIE processes and the strategy behind the F-35 Training System (TMS/LMS, Training Devices, ASMT, SE Equipment, etc…)

Proven experience authoring/revising military training materials/courseware

​Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance

Strong, proven, verbal communications skills

Proven successful experience developing instructional products and services, evaluating maintenance training, and leading students

Considered an expert/authority in their discipline

Able to work swing shift per customer requirement

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Proven F-35 Support Equipment Subject Matter Expertise
  • Proven F-35 Support Equipment trainer experience
  • Working knowledge of ALIS
  • More than 500 hrs. of formal instructional time in the classroom and OJT environments
